Who We Were and What We Wore
A Century of Gardens, Music and Fashion

Suffragettes and flappers. Amelia Earhart and Dale Evans on horseback. The Andrews Sisters, Jackie Kennedy, Rosa Parks, Lady Liberty, Twiggy and the Spice Girls. These iconic women and many more will be represented in a unique Mother’s Day pageant at Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine.

With Wichita’s own Bonnie Bing, playing the role of Mary Poppins and serving as commentator, more than 80 models – many of them arboretum soil sisters – will display authentic fashions from the past 106 years, marking off the decades since the arboretum was founded in 1910. The clothes have been collected from various vintage closets.

A live band will accompany the runway show, performing selections from each decade.

Pack a picnic or take advantage of food vendors (Luciano’s and Freddy’s Custard) at the arboretum. Bring a chair or a blanket but leave the pup at home.

Rain date is May 15th.
